Case managers help people to plan, access, evaluate and coordinate services from their service providers. Plans are customized to each person's own needs and preferences. Inspiring Opportunities Project brings together parents, youth, and professionals to help families identify the resources and supports that promote success and includes: * Information and referral from parent advocates over the phone and in person to parents of children who have emotional or behavioral disorders * Workshops on the rights and responsibilities of parents in mental health, health care and insurance, juvenile justice, education and other systems * Develops parents as effective advocates for their children with mental health issues * Develop strategies to support their children's mental health and behavioral needs at home, in school, and in the community * Publications and handouts on a variety of topics related to children with emotional or behavioral disorders * Information and referral for support groups

They can make referrals to support groups throughout the state, including groups for persons with brain injury, their families and friends and caregivers. Services include: * Intake and case assignment * Mental health evaluation including assessment and diagnostic process * Treatment planning * Counseling services, consultation and individual therapy case review * Access to emergency service * Access to hospital admission Some providers also provide rehabilitative mental health services, and some may also provide services to persons with developmental disabilities, alcoholism or substance abuse. Mental Health Clinics also provide educational, informational, and preventive services to the community. The mental health team includes: * Licensed physician who has completed an approved residency program in psychiatry * Doctoral clinical, counseling, or health care psychologist * Clinical social worker with a master's degree in social work from an accredited college or university or clinical psychiatric nurse with a master's degree

Help Me Grow provides information and resources on child development for parents and professionals: * Developmental milestones from birth - age 5 * Strategies to support healthy development * Tips for professionals on how to talk with families about developmental concerns * Resources for professionals who work with families of young children The Help Me Grow website provides an online form that can be filled out to refer a child for evaluation for possible services. A referral is important so that early intervention services can be provided, and the child can achieve the best developmental outcomes possible. Referrals from Help Me Grow are sent to the school district where the child lives. The school district will contact the family to arrange for an evaluation to find out if the child is eligible for early intervention or special education services. When a child is eligible an educational plan will be developed by a team, including the parents, and the necessary services will be provided by the school district. These services are free to eligible families, regardless of income or immigration status.

MORE INFORMATION Resource Facilitation is a free, two-year statewide telephone support service for persons affected by brain injury, including Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). * This service offers support in transitioning back to family life, work, school and the community. * The service is available to anyone at any point after a brain injury. Many participants are referred at the point of discharge from the hospital to support them in their transition. Participant can receive scheduled calls at regular intervals for up to two years to ensure that their needs are met. Types of services may include: * Emotional support in coping with a new "normal" * Finding mental health support and counselors * Finding support groups * Finding rehabilitation services, how to get assessed, primary care physicians * Supporting caregivers with resources * Helping educate family and friends of the "invisible" symptoms * Logistics of returning to work, vocational rehabilitation and understanding Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)rights * If not going back to work, support in finding meaningful ways to structure the day * Coaching federal, state, and county health and disability service systems * Finding legal support for navigating Social Security Disability and providing advocacy * Supporting parents and students with how to discuss return to school * Connecting to addiction support and treatment services * Support with creative problem solving to life barriers
