Trellis Pension and Retirement Rights (formerly known as The Upper Midwest Pension Rights Project (UMPRP)) provides free legal counseling to assist retirees and pension plan participants who have questions or problems with their pension claims.
The Project provides advocacy in cases where a pension is being denied.
The Upper Midwest Pension Rights Project (UMPRP) is the agency designated to provide pension help for Minnesotans as funded by the U.S. Administration on Aging Pension Counseling and Information Program.
Pension and Retirement Rights often helps workers, retirees and their families in these areas:
* Filing claims and appeals to obtain retirement benefits
* Obtaining and explaining retirement plan documents
* Correcting benefit miscalculations
* Assisting with recoupment actions
* Assisting with suspension of pension benefits issues

A U.S. Government agency that protects pension benefits in private-sector defined benefit plans - the kind that typically pay a set monthly amount at retirement. If a plan ends (this is called "plan termination") without enough money to pay all benefits, Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) insurance program will pay enrollees the benefit provided by the pension plan, up to the limits set by law.
